Find Balance. The Makings of A Piece of ART

Hello everyone! I have been slacking so bad on my blog! I feel horrible! I have all these drafts that need to be finished, but I’d rather write new ones! So, so, so much has changed in just the past month. I’ll write a different post on that, some day.

This post is going to take you from start to finish on how I drew this:

It doesn’t look exactly the same, but that’s a good thing 😉 I just love the colors in this picture and the doodle style.

So, here is my first “learning” one, that I absolutely do not like! But this is how you learn!

I didn’t finish it because I thought I figured it out. Time will tell…. it’s harder than it looks, but I think I have figured it out.
The first thing is to make it on BIGGER paper! The first draft was done on a 5.5in X 8.5in mixed media sketchbook. The new one will be done on an 11 in x 14 in mixed media paper.

It’s kind of hard to see, but here’s some of what I did before getting the pens and paints out. This was done with an HB Derwent pencil.

Here’s one of the circles. I put a Henna type flower in it and the official tangle, Printempts around the flower. I just love this so much!

I decided to use a very dark blue instead of black for the background, because it looked good with the yellow 🙂

And here it is my drawing with the right side background completed. I used Derwent watercolor pencils to color in the background this bluish color.

And here is the finished piece of work! It doesn’t look exactly like the reference photo, but that’s ok! It has my touch to it 😆

I really enjoyed this project. I didn’t use the reference photo as much as I usually do, which is a plus! That means I’m venturing out of my little shell here and will be producing bigger and better projects.

The mojo is back!

I finally have my art mojo back! It’s been a while! I have a huge stockpile of canvases, canvas boards, and paint boards. Every time I go to the craft store I end up buying a few because they’re always on sale!
I was finally brave and painted a watercolor landscape on one 🙂

Isn’t it pretty! I followed a tutorial on YouTube by the Frugal Crafter, so it’s not exactly mine, but it doesn’t look exactly the same and I like it! If you click on “tutorial” it will take you to the exact one I did. It was a little harder to do on the canvas board, but I still like it 🙂
I went out and bought some regular watercolors and acrylic paints. Wow! I’m having too much fun! Here is the very first one I did.

It’s not very good, but that makes it look good. Get what I’m trying to say? I did a couple more, but they say not to post all of your work! I’ll post one a day 🙂
Have a happy Monday everyone!

Inktober Numero Uno (Number One)

Good morning loveys. Today is October 6th and I just heard about it being “Inktober.” Create with ink! That’s so easy for me! So, here’s the first one of the month. You’re supposed to create one a day or five a month, or something like that. I’m going to do as many as I can in a month, instead of doing one daily. I’m not very fast.

Here is my little flower when I first started. I used a black Copic Multiliner A-2 set. These are Like the Multiliner SP except they are disposable. So, they’re comparable to the black Microns. I like these better than the Microns though. In my opinion they’re a lot darker and stay on the page better with the watercolors.

The beginning of my flower :)

I didn’t plan this. I just started drawing that this is what happened. I’m not too upset about it! So after drawing lines and circles I decided to add a little color. I used an orange Micron, green Micron, pink Sharpie, and a yellow Sharpie. The yellow Sharpie over the pink Sharpie made it look orange but I added more orange with the Micron. Fun stuff!

The next step was to add color to the background, so I used my General Kimberley’s water color pencils. I love these things! I don’t really like the look of colored pencils, and I don’t like the way they feel when you’re using them. The General’s are pretty smooth feeling though! I definitely want to get some more colors!

I used three different colors of blue to get the background look and a little water on a paintbrush. This is the fun part!

Here it is, mixed with water on a paintbrush.

I still thought it needed more, so I started adding more circles, bigger than the ones on the plant. You can’t really see the ones on the plant unless you enlarge the picture. The last part was shading, and this is the end result! I do like this one 🙂 I think I’m only going to get better as I do each one of my “Inktober” projects. Maybe I’ll frame them and hang them in the hall. I’ve never framed anything I have drawn before.

That’s it for my first “Inktober” project. Now on to make the second…..
Thanks for stopping by!
